New translations: Russian and Swedish

We are pleased to announce that Aegir CMS now has complete Russian and Swedish translations, thanks to the excellent work of community contributors!

Russian Translation

The Russian translation makes Aegir CMS accessible to the large Russian-speaking market, including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Translation Highlights

  • Complete interface coverage — All menu items, buttons, and labels translated
  • Proper Cyrillic encoding — Full UTF-8 support for Russian characters
  • Culturally appropriate — Terminology adapted for Russian business context
  • System messages — Error messages and notifications in Russian

Swedish Translation

The Swedish translation extends Aegir CMS's Nordic language support. Combined with the existing Finnish translation, Aegir CMS now serves two major Nordic languages.

Translation Features

  • Swedish interface — Complete user interface in Swedish
  • Proper character support — Åå, Ää, Öö correctly handled
  • Professional terminology — Appropriate business and technical terms
  • Consistent style — Uniform translation approach throughout

With these additions, Aegir CMS now supports:

  • English — Reference language
  • Polish — Complete
  • Finnish — Complete
  • Russian — Complete (NEW!)
  • Swedish — Complete (NEW!)

How to Use Translations

Users can select their preferred language:

  1. After logging into Aegir CMS, go to user preferences
  2. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu
  3. Save preferences
  4. The interface will reload in your chosen language

Each user can choose their own interface language independently, allowing multilingual teams to work together with each person using their preferred language.

Character Encoding

Both translations use UTF-8 character encoding, ensuring proper display of:

  • Cyrillic characters for Russian
  • Swedish special characters (å, ä, ö)
  • Mixed content in multiple languages

Make sure your Aegir CMS installation is configured for UTF-8 to take full advantage of these translations.
