Fixed RC1 package available

We have released a corrected version of the Aegir CMS 1.0 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) package. Users who downloaded the original RC1 package should upgrade to this fixed version.

What Was Fixed

The original RC1 package had several issues that have been corrected in this update:

Installation Issues

  • Missing files — Several required library files were omitted from the original package
  • Permission problems — Installation script had incorrect file permissions preventing execution
  • Path errors — Some file paths in configuration templates were incorrect

Functionality Fixes

  • Translation loading — Fixed bug preventing some language files from loading correctly
  • Content editor — Corrected JavaScript errors in Mozilla editor affecting certain operations
  • Image upload — Fixed issue with image uploads in certain configurations
  • Search indexing — Corrected problem with search index not updating properly

Security Updates

  • Session handling — Improved session security to prevent potential hijacking
  • Input validation — Enhanced validation on user input fields
  • File upload restrictions — Better checking of uploaded file types

Who Should Upgrade

You should download the fixed RC1 package if:

If you successfully installed the original RC1 and haven't experienced problems, you can continue using it, though we recommend updating for the security improvements.

Installation

To install the fixed RC1 package:

  5. Run the installation script

Upgrading from Original RC1

If you already installed the original RC1 package:

  1. Back up your database and configuration files
  2. Download the fixed RC1 package
  3. Replace the Aegir CMS files (preserving your configuration and data directories)

Your content and settings will be preserved during the upgrade.

Upgrading from Beta Versions

Known Issues

  • Search results highlighting doesn't work correctly with some multibyte character sets
  • File upload progress indication not available in all browsers

These will be addressed in the final 1.0 release or subsequent updates.
