More translations: Danish, Dutch and German

The internationalization of Aegir CMS continues with three more language additions! We are excited to announce complete translations for Danish, Dutch (Nederlands), and German (Deutsch).

German Translation (Deutsch)

German was one of our highest priority translation requests, given the significant user base in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. We're pleased to now offer a complete German interface.

Features

  • Complete interface — All menus, buttons, forms, and messages in German
  • Professional terminology — Appropriate business and technical terms for German-speaking markets
  • Proper formatting — Ä, Ö, Ü, and ß correctly handled
  • Formal style — Using appropriate formal address (Sie) for business context

The German translation opens Aegir CMS to one of Europe's largest markets for content management systems.

Dutch Translation (Nederlands)

The Dutch translation serves users in the Netherlands and Flanders (Dutch-speaking Belgium), bringing Aegir CMS to another important European market.

  • Netherlands/Belgium appropriate — Terminology suitable for both regions
  • Character support — Proper handling of Dutch special characters and diacritics

Danish Translation (Dansk)

The Danish translation completes Aegir CMS's coverage of major Nordic languages, now supporting Danish, Finnish, and Swedish.

  • Special characters — Æ, Ø, Å properly supported

Aegir CMS now supports eight languages:

  • German — Complete (NEW!)

Geographic Coverage

With these translations, Aegir CMS now has strong coverage across:

  • Northern Europe — All major Nordic languages (Danish, Finnish, Swedish)
  • Western Europe — German, Dutch, English
  • Central/Eastern Europe — Polish, Russian

Using Translations

To use any of these translations:

  1. Log into Aegir CMS
  2. Navigate to your user preferences/settings
  3. Select your preferred language from the available options
  4. Save your preferences
  5. The interface will reload in your chosen language

Each team member can select their own interface language independently, making Aegir CMS ideal for international organizations with multilingual teams.

Website Translations

In addition to interface translations, portions of the Aegir CMS website are being translated. You can now access website content in German (/de/), Polish (/pl/), Finnish (/fi/), and Swedish (/se/).

Technical Notes

All translations use UTF-8 character encoding, ensuring:

  • Proper display of special characters (umlauts, accents, Nordic characters, Cyrillic)
  • Compatibility with multilingual content
  • Correct sorting and searching in localized interfaces

Ensure your Aegir CMS installation is configured for UTF-8 support in both PHP and MySQL.
